When the information of a current sickness changes perhaps because the expected duration gets extended or the specifics of the sickness needs updated, you can go to Actions > Sickness > Update on Sickness and choose the Sickness Ref to update. Progress notes can also be kept against the sickness to record conversations with the sick employee or any other pertinent information.
